Rachel and Karen

Jollifrogs is the latest business adventure for mother and daughter team, Karen and Rachel Kloess.

Let’s take a walk down memory lane…

Karen started making hair-bows in 1990 when her daughter Rachel was just 3 years old. She aptly named her new business Rachel’s Ribbons and began providing hair bows and hair accessories for local shops and her community of friends.

Flash-forward to 2001, Rachel entered high school and Karen realized she wanted to take her hair-bow business to the next level. She went from servicing 30 stores to over 350 retail stores across the U.S. and Canada.

In 2009, Rachel graduated from Belmont University with degrees in Spanish & Communication Studies. After working in her field of studies for a brief while, Rachel realized working for her mom and growing the family business (named after her, no less!) was the best job imaginable. Rachel has been working full-time, side by side with her mom Karen, for the last 4 years, and wouldn’t change it for the world!

Which brings us to today...

Karen & Rachel realized there was a need for affordable, customizable, and diverse hair bows and hair accessories for the little ladies in our lives. Endless brainstorming sessions between mother and daughter finally culminated into the creation of their new retail gift shop, Jollifrogs. Rachel’s Ribbons wholesale operation has recently moved to the back of the space, while the brand new gift shop Jollifrogs occupies the front. Together they hope to bring you the best selection of hair bows and hair accessories in town! And, if you don’t find what you’re looking for, they welcome custom orders. After all, their ribbon workshop is just a few feet away!

A self-proclaimed ‘Gift Buying Guru’, Rachel’s favorite thing for as long as she can remember is finding the perfect, tailor-made gift, for friends and family. She has also had a lifelong obsession with frogs. A perfect fusion of those two random interests, and Jollifrogs was born! Her vision for Jollifrogs is to bring back the whimsy and discovery that a unique shopping experience can provide, while celebrating the artist in all of us!

"Creative work is not a selfish act or a bid for attention. It's a gift to the world and every being in it. Don't cheat us of your contribution. Give us what you've got." – Steven Pressfield, The War of Art
